Frequently asked questions
Frequently asked questions
How much does dog boarding cost per night in Athens?
Overnight boarding in Athens typically costs €18 to €35 per night, depending on the sitter, your dog's size and the time of year. Holiday weeks book up first and sit at the top of that range. Each Nea Smyrni sitter's nightly rate is shown on Petme before you book.
Is my dog boarded in the sitter's home in Nea Smyrni?
Yes. Petme boarding is home-based, not a kennel. Your dog stays in a Nea Smyrni sitter's home and follows a normal daily routine. Most sitters limit how many dogs they take at once, which you can confirm with them in the app before booking.
What if my dog needs a vet during a stay in Nea Smyrni?
The Protection Plan offers up to €20,000 for eligible accidents and illness during the stay, subject to its terms. Nea Smyrni sitters contact you straight away and can reach emergency vet care while you are away.
How far ahead should I book a sitter in Nea Smyrni for August?
Months, not weeks. Greek residents take about a third of their trips in August, so Athens sitters are fielding requests for the same weeks from everyone at once. Spring is not too early for an August booking, and outside midsummer you can usually arrange something a couple of weeks out.
What does my pet need to be registered before I book in Nea Smyrni?
A microchip and an entry in the National Register of Companion Animals, which Greek law requires for every dog and cat, not just dogs. A certified vet fits the chip and checks it at each visit. Have the registration in order before you book in Nea Smyrni, and give your Athens sitter your vet's details along with the feeding and medication routine.
