Caring for your cat in York

Seasonal advice for York cat owners

Ouse flood awareness

York floods regularly. Properties near the Ouse should ensure cats have access to upper floors during flood events, and outdoor access should be restricted near swollen riverbanks.

Tourist season noise

York's city centre attracts millions of visitors. Cats in the central areas may be unsettled by increased footfall and noise. Ensure your sitter knows your cat's triggers and preferences.

Historic city safety

York's narrow medieval streets see heavy pedestrian and cyclist traffic. Keep outdoor cats microchipped and fitted with a quick-release collar, especially near the city walls and the Shambles.
